How do I add fields to the pre-chat screen?

Setting Up the Default Pre-Chat Fields

Click on tabs:
1. Tab: Admin
2. Tab: Customize
Choose "Pre-Chat Fields".

 

To add a new field, click on "Add".
To edit existing field, double click on any one of the fields.
To move a field down or up, click on the field once and click on "Move Down" or "Move Up" buttons.


Customizing Pre-Chat Fields per Website 
These settings will override the general fields, set up as instructed above and will allow fields customization for each website found under the same license account. 
Click on Tabs
1. Tab Admin
2. Tab Setup > Websites



3. Double click the website for which you want to apply the fields.
4. Next, scroll down to the Override Pre-Chat Fields and Override Leave Message Fields options. 
5. Tick "Override Pre-Chat Fields" and then click Edit. 



6. To add a new field, click on "Add".
To edit existing field, double click on any one of the fields.
To move a field down or up, click on the field once and click on "Move Down" or "Move Up" buttons.
7. Tick "Show fields in widget" if you want the pre-chat fields to be displayed inside the floating widget. Otherwise, they will only show up inside the main chat window, accessible by using the Icon or by expanding the floating widget. 

 

Fields explained:
Field Title - will be displayed for the visitors.
Mandatory - is this field mandatory or not? Double click to change.
Input Type - choose what kind of field is this. Double click to choose. There are two special types: "Email" for an email field and "Name" for a name field.
Items - if you choose an input type that needs values (such as a drop down list or radio buttons), this is where you enter the values. Double click to edit.
