Improve email delivery rates by adding an SPF record to your domain.
Simply put, Sender Policy Framework (“SPF”) records allow you to determine which computers can send email on behalf of your domain. Adding a SPF record to your domain name's TXT entry, while not required, can help improve email delivery rates by reducing the chance that the emails you send will be seen as spam. It can also help prevent others from sending spam and using your domain name.
Many domain name registrars will also have their own SPF record creation tool which you can use when you log in to manage your domain name. For example, GoDaddy's SPF record creation instructions can be seen here: http://help.godaddy.com/article.php?article_id=3047&topic_id=165
If your registrar doesn't offer such an option, there are online tools which will also allow you to easily generate the SPF record. One such service is available at: http://old.openspf.org/wizard.html
Step 2: Insert the SPF record into your domain name's TXT entry.
Each domain name registrar will have a slightly different procedure for adding the SPF record to your domain name's TXT entry. This option is generally under the “manage domains” options. If you do not see this option, your registrar's support center will be able to assist you, or can insert the SPF record for you. Once you add the SPF record it may take between 30 minutes and 48 hours for the changes to your DNS record to take effect.
